Vegas 10 wont run projects from 11??
Posted by Paul Gilmore on March 8, 2012 at 1:40 amWhy can I not import projects from pro 11 into pro 10?
is there a way around it?“Film is a dramatized reality and it is the director’s job to make it appear real… an audience should not be conscious of technique.” – David Lean

March 8, 2012 at 1:46 amI don’t think Sony has ever supported the ability to take a veg file back to an earlier version of Vegas. If you think about that, you will probably see why that is the case. Things would start breaking.

March 8, 2012 at 12:55 pmYou don’t even appear to be able to do a timeline copy between versions either to or from 10 and 11 or vice versa, but you can within subversions e.g. 10a to 10c.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

March 9, 2012 at 9:45 pmWhile Vegas 11 files can’t be opened in Vegas 10, I just tried and succeeded to copy the events from a Vegas 11 project, and paste them onto a Vegas 10 timeline. Basically transferring a Vegas 11 project to Vegas 10. This project included speed changes, audio envelopes, titles, and transition effects.
Just use your selection edit tool to draw a box around everything of the Vegas 11 timeline, copy and paste it to a blank Vegas 10 timeline.
Not sure what, if any features will not transfer, but my trial worked perfectly.

March 10, 2012 at 2:20 amThat’s interesting. I tried that before I posted and it did not work. But I was doing a simple single event copy and paste. I did not use the event selection tool.
You have just taught an old dog a new trick. Thanks!
