Stabilize does not show up in the effect dialogue but rather by right clicking on the video clip and choosing stabilize.

Problem is, how do you remove stabilization if the result is not worth it?

    Thanks!

Never mind. Solved. Looked in the manual, p204. To remove Stabilize you have to right click the video choose Stabilize then there is a “remove” button.

Also notice that the stabilized clips are added to the project media as sub-clips and to the event ask Takes! That means you can stabilize with several different settings and use the ‘T’ key to cycle through them and use Remove Takes to selectively remove them also.

Interesting. So every sub-clip is kept? Anyway to see what settings were used, so we can learn what settings are working better?

Any shortcut to know which clip is being used, beside right click/property?

Also, just found a limitation. You can’t stabilize a clip that’s reversed and you can’t revert a stabilized clip. I suppose I could render it then reimport…

In Movie Studio HD 10 (and maybe also Vegas Pro 10), the stabilisation seems to be rendered in real-time (ie during preview or output render) rather than pre-computed/rendered as an actual video file. I notice the CPU usage increases when previewing stabilised events compared to normal events using the same source media. I think only the motion analysis is done off-line when you apply stabilisation. That might explain why stabilised clips can’t be reversed.

Try the menu item: View | Active Take Information
