Hi Guys, I know this has probably been asked about a million times but I could not see an answer quickly and thought maybe Vegas & FCP have improved compatability with latest versions so here we go:
I have a 10 min HDV video that I have roughly edited and I need to send it to a FCP user for final edit………can you provide info on the best format to render and send to them ?? Thanks in advance.

Video for the Web is kool.

Of the bat, the quicktime format would be a good file format
to render out your footage from Vegas to give to your Final cut
user (nothing complex)…best try ask them which quicktime codec
they would prefer to recieve it in.

[Steve Rhoden] “the quicktime format would be a good file format to render out your footage from Vegas to give to your Final cut”

Yea, but if he wants a project with events he’ll need to use EDL or AAF. I would search these forums for FCP EDL and you’ll see all the past discussions on this. It’s not a pretty sight.

It starts with a bottle of aspirin because you’re going to get quite a headache… and it ends with buying a Mac because you’re going to give up! Somewhere in the middle you export EDL from Vegas and spend countless hours trying to get it into FCP but it never quite works. 😉

Like I said… search this forum for: FCP EDL there are some limited success stories there but no clear workflow.

    Try these for starters:

    FCP 7 and Sony Vegas
    Moving from Vegas to FCP
import Vegas edl into FCP – ?

Where have I heard that before… Oh yes, on the FCP forums.
