When you’re opening up a veg file, you know that “V” that prefixes the file name? What if the V in the grey box is missing, and instead there’s a different goobly box with a few colors inside? I hope some of you readers will know what I’m trying to ask here.

I had to re-do a much of stuff on my computer after getting hit by a nasty virus(s). Everything redone, and all viruses gone. Vegas seems to work ok, but the V that is in that little grey box right before the .veg file is substituted with something else, and it’s not the mpeg file

Sounds like you need to re-associate veg files with Vegas on your rebuilt computer.

Open any Windows folder and go to Tools/Folder Options/File Types, scroll down to VEG and Click Change to tell it that these should Open with Vegas – browse to the Programs folder and select the Vegas.exe.

A simpler solution may be to just reinstall Vegas. Then it should set the association by itself (and anything else that may have become unassociated.)

Thank-you very much for your help, Edward! It worked! I went into a Windows file and directed it to the Vegas program, and everything is back to normal. Yeeeehawwww!

Sorry, I broke down and went to see the Dukes of Hazzard movie, and now I have to holler like a hill billy! yeeehawwww!
