It sounds like you have Movie Studio 9c if you are using .vf files and not Sony Vegas Pro. Am I correct? It’s important to indentify the correct version you are using when you post so that people don’t give you advice for the Pro version that might not work with in the Movie Studio version.

There is no way to change this in the normal interface but you can change this in the internal preferences. Hold the SHIFT key while selecting Options | Preferences and you will see a new tab called Internal. This is only to be used by Sony Tech Support so use it at your own risk, but if you search for the word “record” you will see an option called Record Path and you can set it to another folder. I’m not sure why this isn’t exposed in the normal GUI.
