  Vectorscope issue?

  I’ve got myself an ancient Electronic Visuals 4061 Waveform/vectorscope that I’ve hooked up to my FCP system via the component out of my DSR40 deck.

  Everything looks great – nice sharp waveform, same with the vectorscope. However, on the vectorscope there seems to be some shimmering dots along with the vector. Not quite sure what is causing it.. has anyone else seen any kind of artifacting in a vectorscope before? The waveform is perfectly clean, so I’m guessing my signal is clean?
