  • VASST DVD prep… can’t cancel :(

Posted by Gilles Gagnon on October 23, 2012 at 6:22 pm

    Has anyone experience this?
I use the handy dandy tool from VASST freeware DVD prep and although there is a cancel button, it doesn’t work when pressed. A pain when trying to cancel a long DVD render, close to the start.

I just downloaded the latest version, still can’t “cancel”.

    Is there a fix?

Thanks for piping in Steve. No sweat, I decided to render in the normal fashion using the bitcalculator.

    Cheers,

    Cool.
I mostly now use ConvertXtoDVD to burn my standard
    DVD’s. Its surprisingly efficient.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the tip. I never used it.
How do you use it? do you create an mpg2 with ac3 audio and use Convert…?

I’m assuming Convert.. doesn’t allow you to create menus, etc.

    Is it really free?

Gilles, you need to give Vegas the focus in order to cancel. I usually select the Vegas instance button down on the windows toolbar at the bottom of your desktop and then press the Esc key and Vegas will cancel the render.

I see.. I thought I’d tried this John, I’ll try it again tomorrow.
By the way, which settings are used to generate the mpg?

    1. How do you use it?….You basically can drop any format in it.
I normally render to mpeg2 DVD for it.

    2. Do you create an mpg2…Thats the best workflow to go.

    3 With ac3 audio and use Convert?… Even ac3 , then
yes you hit convert and it goes
to work and converting and also
    automatically burn to disc.

    4. Doe’s it allow you to create menus?….Yes, tons of basic menus.

    5. Is it really free?……No its not.

    Thanks Steve,

It sounds swell. I’ll definitely look into it. There appears to be a free version but it must be crippled in some way.

Final question: why do you use it over DVDA which comes with Vegas Pro?

[Gilles Gagnon] “By the way, which settings are used to generate the mpg?”

It uses the standard DVD Architect xxx templates. If you choose 16:9 it selected the Widescreen template, if you select 4:3 it selects the regular template. It was designed for people who need to ask what template to use so that they don’t have to worry about it. It just uses the correct templates.
