Vasst Closed Caption
Posted by Richard Milner on December 19, 2011 at 4:45 amI just finished my first try at closed caption and it worked great, almost. Unless I missed a step when I was finished I just rendered the video and burned it to a dvd.
I can’t get the dvd players to broadcast the CC. Did I miss a step and have to somehow embed the CC into the video or was that an automatic thing.
Blessings!

Vegas doesn’t support closed captioning for DVD. That’s an entirely different thing. It supports closed captioning for broadcast only.

I assume you need to purchase some other software for this purpose. I’ve never had the need to create CC for DVD so I don’t know. I only know that Vegas doesn’t support it because the MainConcept MPEG-2 encoder that they use doesn’t support Line 21 DVD captions. Maybe other NLE’s with different MPEG-2 encoders do?

December 21, 2011 at 3:14 pmThey have past a law that we have to use CC for video’s on tv broadcasting. We don’t broadcast on tv but they are trying to push it so non profit or religion based streaming does do that.
So I am trying to get a jump on the market before we get slapped.
Blessings!

December 21, 2011 at 3:18 pmCheck out DVD-lab Pro as it apparently has the ability to use real captions.
A free trial is available.

Don’t confuse that with CC for DVD. They are two separate things.
Vegas Pro gives you everything you need to comply with the new laws for TV broadcasting. You can even use it for certain types of streaming video (QuickTime, RealPlayer, Windows Media, & YouTube). So you have everything you need to be compliant with the law already right in Vegas Pro.
