    Howdy,

I’m in the process of converting my old AE lower-third animations into motion templates that people can use directly in FCP. I’ve gotten just about everything solved, with one exception: I cannot mix text formats within a single text element.

My lower thirds feature the first name in a regular typeface, and the last name in bold. Like this:

I know motion won’t allow this directly, so I am looking for an indirect solution.

The only thing that has come to mind is to use 2 separate text fields, and parenting them in a way that the last name is offset from the first name by the width of the first name. Experimenting with the LINK behavior has not yielded any success, as I cannot seem to grab the first-name text field’s width to use as an offset for the position of the last-name text field.

Any ideas? Am i barking up the wrong tree?
