    Hi Guys,
I am planning on doing an uncompressed capture from a varicam on a studio shoot. I will be using Final Cut Pro 6 with an AJA Kona LH. Does anyone know what capture settings to use if shooting in 60p, to capture the 60p footage uncompressed. I have a fast 8 disk raid, which will do the uncompressed.

Also, if i am shooting at 60p and i am in PAL land, is it best to edit 23.98fps and convert later or edit 25fps.

Any workflow advice would be much appreciated.

    Thankyou,

    Nick

Kona 720p60 8bit or 10bit easy set up

the data rate calc is at https://www.aja.com/ajashare/AJA_Data_Rate_Calculator_v2.app.tar

sorry but it is mac only.

that would depend on the deliverable, and how your camera is set whether you shoot 23.98 or 25.

    Thanks for the info!
    I will be delivering 25p

Would i be right in assuming if i am shooting a music video, and accellerate the playback x 2.4 times, so that the singer sings at 2.4 times the original track speed, when the 60p is converted to 25p, it should sync up with the standard speed track.

Also, i edited some varicam footage the other day nativeley, and used panasonics ‘frame rate converter’ to turn the 60p into 23.98. How would i convert the 8 bit 60p into 25fps without re rendering, as the panasonic plugin for final cut pro only works with DVCPRO HD.

Thanks in advance…. I am being very careful to not have and drama’s on the day of the shoot.

    is this for an effect?

the varicam shoots at 25p and everything from 1-60 fps why not shoot at and post at 25p since that is what you are delivering? HDSDI out into a BTW1700 would allow you to monitor the content as 25p.

just make sure the camera is set to 60hrz and not 59.94
