    Hi there

We are in the process of changing over to high def production. We have a new Varicam and 2 decks, a 1700 and a 1200. I tried a test yesterday, captured some clips into Final Cut Pro, put them in a 720P sequence and output that (via Decklink Downconvert) to DVcam. I wanted to send an OMF test to our audio house. So I output an hour long timeline to DVcam with Dropframe timecode. But when I compared the DVcam to the timeline, there seemed to be about a 3 second difference at the end of the hour. About what I would expect if there was a dropframe/nondrop discrepancy. FCP tells me that the sequence setting is 23.98, but If that’s the case, how do I time a show for broadcast, if there is no drop-frame capability? The 1700 deck let’s me choose Drop or Non Drop code when striping, but there’s no choice in FCP. Am I missing something here?

    Cheers

DF does not exist in 23.98 or 24P.

At the end of our hour in NDF timecode you will see approximately a little over 3 secs difference when compared to the DF stripped tape.
