I’m starting to feel like I might be losing my mind…

I have footage shot on Varicam, for use in a 720p25 FCP project. On the tape there is footage at 10fps and at 50fps.

The standard Blackmagic Varicam Easy Setups don’t seem to work, as the 25fps ones are expecting 50Hz input.

    My settings therefore are:
    Sequence: ProRes HQ 720p25
    Control: Blackmagic 720p60
Capture: ProRes HQ 720p25 (input from Blackmagic 720p60)
    Playback: Blackmagic 720p50 10bit

Capturing the 10fps footages works exactly as I’d expects. I get a comically fast clip.

But capturing the 50fps stuff is more problematic. With the ProRes capture set to 25fps I get a clip that plays at the right rate, but doesn’t include everything so if I start at some point, then play for a bit and then stop, then I only get about 50% of what I expect to be in the clip (i.e. It ends early).

So far the best solution I can come up with is to change the capture setting framerate to match what was recorded on tape, then use Cinema Tools to conform the clips framerate to 25fps. This works, but it’s a pain in the ass.
