    Hi-

I need to digitize Varicam DVC Pro HD material into my Premiere 2.0 system. I have MainConcept MPEG Pro HD installed and this morning I installed the add-on for DVC Pro HD. I need to digitize footage from a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A deck. The footage was shot at 720p / 24p.

The deck is recognized. I have deck control – but there is no picture in the capture window. There is an external monitor hooked up via composite cable, so I know the footage is on the tape. Every time I hit the capture button I get a

    Hi Chris,

We are trying to do almost the same thing at the moment. We have some Varicam footage 720p/60FPS which I want to edit on Premiere Pro 2.0. We have not tried to capture it directly into Premiere rather we captured the footage into FCP and then exported the file as a quicktime in the H.264 codec. This file format opens fine in premiere however I have a blackmagic (SD) card and so far have been editing it as a Motion JPEG 720p Varicam project. I am able to output from Premiere to a 1280 x 720 AVI file that will play on the computer via Windows media player and it looks great. I also have the Mainconcept Pro HD plug in for PP2 but have not had much luck with it on this particular task.

Do you know anyone with a Mac and FCP? Please let me know if you do have success as I would like to capture varicam footage directly into Premiere as well.

    Good luck

    George

    Guys

it is my understanding that you cannot edit NATIVE DVCPROHD in the windows version of Premiere, and the Mac version will only support DVCPROHD if FCP is installed on the system.

Look into the Raylight or DVFilm apps to allow for you to work with that content, as far as i know it is the only solution currently.
