    Hi All,
We are evaluating the Varicam 27H and the HDX-400 for purchase and have come across an oddity. While reshooting an LCD screen (full 30f) the Varicam exhibits flickering or strobing in the reproduction. This showed up on tape as well as on the monitor we used. The 1080i camera showed some as well but with reduced amount. This can also be seen (Very faintly)in the highlights of a subject we shot with tungsten light(No other lights)on the Varicam. This also shows up in some places on the demo footage that Panasonic has.
Has anyone who has run across this in the past and solved it, what is the issue? Is it an HD thing? Admittedly we blew up the footage in an HD projector to look at it closer and it really amplified it. I noted an earlier post about clearscan and shutter angle that didn’t ask quite the same question. Here’s the point, if we shoot this same monitor with an SD Camera there will be no flicker.
This could be a deal breaker.
The other thing we noted that the projection for the 1080i vs the 720p is noticeably sharper.
There are a hundred possible issues here and we can’t solve all of the variables. I am just looking for some conventional wisdom and some actual experiences with the camera.
    Cheers,
