Which codec should I use when capturing varicam shot in 24p captured with a kona 2 and then edited for DVD playback? I heard 59.94 is better for a 29.97 playback or should I just stick with the 23.98 DVCPRO Varicam setting? Please advise I have never got a strait answer on this.

Why capture with the Kona 2? Why not diret firewire in like it is designed?

If you are going direct to DVD, and you shot 24p (720p24) then capture at 23.98. 29.97 and 59.94 are for broadcast delivery.

Thanks for the response! I use the Kona 2 because we have been in the Varicam business a long time and still have a old 130deck and I cant see spending 20 something grand for a soon to be obsolete tape deck. Thanks again for the tip I always have used 23.98 but someone brought up a reason for doubt.

    Thanks Again

    Kevin,
Know too, that by using the Kona 2 you can capture all of that offspeed content direct into your suite!
whether you want to work in DVCPROHD or in uncompressed.
