Varicam Blackmagic Pro HD vs. DVCPRO HD frame rate conversion
Hi everyone,
I’ve just finished a 14 min short film shot with a Varicam and cut in FCP4.5, on a G5
Source footage captured in the DVCPRO HDP24 codec from a Panasonic HD AJ-1200A deck via firewire. This way all meta data is retained so I could frame rate convert the footage to 23.98 from 60fps and 22fps in FCP using Panasonics plug-in DVC PROHD frame rate converter in FCP.
I just recaptured all of the 23.98 footage via HD SDI from the Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro card to take it out of the codec and up to 1280×720 rather than 960×720 and everything’s fine with the exeption of the above footage. Just for the record there is a definite difference in quality bringing the footage in BM8bit 720 vs. DVCPRO HD p24
How do you recapture and frame rate convert this uncompressed footage? The DVC PROHD frame rate converter doesn’t see this footage so I can’t convert it there. So where and how do I do so?
I REALLY NEED AN ANSWER! I’m coming close to finishing a 2hr feature that is being blown up to film that I would like to uncompress to a D5 that only has a few Variable frame rate shots but still has them.
Thanks,
Alain
