Has anyone ever had a folder simply DISAPPEAR before? This morning I opened my project from last night and the (very full)GFX folder is simply not there anymore.

Before I put the bullet through my head, does anyone have any thoughts (besides “Rest in peace.”)?

    Ouch 🙁

Perhaps the mods can address whether SV does this – I would be surprised if it did.
Meanwhile – did you look in the wastebasket to see if it is there? probably not. Then some nasty scareware makes files and folders hidden. However they would do more than one folder and ask you for money to recover it. Set folder options to show hidden files but … if the folder has been deleted don#t do much more on that machine and get some quality undelete software. There is a lot out there but but get plenty of reviews of whatever one you choose.

Is your missing folder on a separate drive?

Download Everything. Really, that’s the name of the program – “Everything”.
It’s free and I use it almost exclusive of Windows Explorer because it’s just so darned fast.

The program name kind of reminds me of a neighbor with a dog named “Dammit”. When he takes the dog for a walk, it’s “Here, Dammit!” and “Get the ball, Dammit”.

    His cat’s name was “What”.

But I digress. Here is where you can download everything. Use it to search for any file or folder in your missing folder. If it exists, Everything will find it. Even in the trash folder.

    Hi,
if “everything” works that is great!
But after a review of the web site it does not appear obvious that “everywhere” does data recovery.

An option is to just google “file recovery software”. An interesting article is publshed here https://support.microsoft.com/kb/835840
but it is not written by MS. Nevertheless it is a good backgrounder.

[mark thompson] “ut after a review of the web site it does not appear obvious that “everywhere” does data recovery.”

I never said it did recovery. I said that if the file exists, it will find it.

    Hi,
I also think is the best approach. If the files are still there it is far better to track them down. Data recovery is a last resort only when all other methods were unable to find them.
