  • validating audio problem during capture

    Hi all,

I’ve read several helpful posts here on issues with validating audio.

I am getting the validating audio pop up intermittently and have learned the solution is to cancel it in order to maintain audio video sync.

The problem I am having is that when I cancel, the clips lose their original timecode. My media start point changes to 00:00:00:00.

I’m capturing via firewire from a DVCAM deck and timecode is present on all of the tapes.

Timecode is fine on clips captured where the validating audio box doesn’t pop up.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks for you help,

    Bob

    one last note…

I am capturing audio at 32kHz from a tape that was recorded at 32kHz.

If I change my capture settings to 48kHz the validating audio window does not show up.

    Thanks again for your responses,

    Bob

What exactly does this error message say? I’ve never seen it.

If you’re capturing at 32k are you also set to capture 16 bit?

    Hi Jerry,

The message says “validating audio data”.

I am capturing at 32kHz 16 bit, although 32Khz is actually 12 bit. Maybe that could be at issue.

It is kind of strange that in the 48kHz capture mode everything works fine.
