  • Validating an XML file

Sorry to interupt the grazing but I have spent the last two hours searching and trying different ways to validate an XML file. Does anyone have any suggestions? I followed Apple’s directions on this link.
    https://developer.apple.com/documentation/AppleApplications/Reference/FinalCutPro_XML/index.html.
But since I am clueless when it comes to using the Terminal I am sure I did something wrong. Here is what I am trying to do. I had a caption house translate roughly 200 segments into english and spanish subtitles and had them make xml files of all of them so that I can export from FCP in various codecs. My client wants to be able to pick and chose different types of formats for export. Some with spanish subtitles some with English subtitles and some with no subs. So I figured this would be best if I did it in FCP that way I could just shut off the tracks I didn’t want to use and export per my clients requirements. Seemed simple but now I can’t get the XML files to validate and I just wanted to see if anybody has tried this.

    Thanks,

    Jason

There are many type of XML files. If they haven’t supplied you with an XML file created specifically for FCP then it won’t work.
