  • V8 – Prores Playback Issue

Hi. I have a very slow performance with playback of prores at 4k 4096×2304 with project settings 1920×1080.

My performance with resolve 7.1 is 42fps playback without nodes
My performance with resolve 8 is 13fps playback without nodes

What can I do for better performance with v8?.

I have both version in the computer but, with resolve 7 appears this message

Decoder client version 3.2.1 does not match Digital powerhouse version 4.2.0
I can work with prores files without problems, but not r3d. Is there any form to have both versions at the same time?

    Thanks.

Before installing v8, I dragged the Resolve package for v7 out of the Applications folder. v7 seems to run fine from its new location and v8 from the Applications folder where it installed itself.

I should probably mention also that I did not update my 7.1 database, I created a new one in v8.

Could you please send your logs to davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com?

You can’t switch between v7 and v8 like that. You need to reinstall using the installer to switch.

Ok, no problem what that. What I need is to improve prores performance at 4k.

Do you know why so much diference between v7 and v8?. Can you replicate the same problem?, i’m testing with prores 422 hq, because 444 has a lot of crash at 4k.

Do you have a quick workflow on how you did that Adam? I’d like to have both concurrent.

I’m out of the office so I can’t check the r3d playback. What I did test was .ari raw and ProRes in ver 7.1 and it seemed to function normally after installing 8.

I simply dragged the application package for Resolve 7.1 onto the desktop, then installed version 8. When I ran version 8 and it complained about the database, I created a new one rather than update the old one. Version 7.1 runs from the desktop where I put it.

There may be things that aren’t working, since it’s not supposed to be done and I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it, so keep that in mind.

    Logs.
    You can find them at
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve

There is also a capture logs app in the same folder.

    Please send them to
