V6 & DVDA will not recognize DivX avi files
Three hours ago I was able to drag in .avi files into Vegas and DVD Architect. Here are the properties of the files:
Original .avi file properties:
Frame Rate: 24.9967
Field Order: None (Progressive Scan)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000 (Square)
Audio Attributes: 130 kBit/s, 48000 Hz, Stereo, MPEG Layer-3
Video Format: DivX 6.8 Codec (2 Logical CPUs), 512x384x24
[Currently, these details are not available now that Video “Stream attributes cannot be determined”]Now, however, Vegas and DVD Architect no longer recognize the video stream of these .avi files. I know that I must have done something between the time when it worked, and now, to have caused this problem, but I don’t know what it was. If someone could help me find a possible indicator of why this is happening, I would be greatly appreciative.
I have a suspicion that a program called “VirtualDub” may have caused this problem. I did open one of the .avi files in it, and since I am not very familiar with the application I may have done something unintentional. I don’t know though, because, again, I’m not even sure what the app is capable of. The reason I have this slight suspicion is because of this detail in the properties dialog (using Vegas):
Summary
Software: VirtualDubMod 1.4.13
-or-
Summary
Software: Nandub v1.0rc2No idea what that means, or if it has anything to do with my problem.
One thing that is consistent in the Vegas file properties dialog with all the .avi files is this. Again, I’m not sure what it means, or whether it could indicate a problem:
Plug-In
Name: aviplug.dll
Folder: C:Program FilesSonyVegas 7.0FileIO Plug-Insaviplug
Format: Video for WindowsUnder the Windows property dialog, under the ‘Summary’ tab, it says:
Video Compression – XVid
I have no idea if this was what it said before when everything was working.
Finally, this is the error message I get when I now try to add the .avi media to DVD Architect:
An error occured during this command (Id: 4253)
An error occured while opening a codec.I don’t know what information is relevant, and what isn’t, so I realize my question is almost impossible to answer. If someone sees somemthing amiss or something that could cause a problem with Vegas and DVDA, please let me know. I have restarted my computer, re-installed the DivX Codec, but the problem still remains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael
