we are doing a feature doco for national geo in HD
It is our first HD job and we have digitized all using ‘blackmagic 1080i 50 JPEG’
It was all going well until we were forced to upgrade to version FCP5 and tiger so as to digitize the sony HDV which was not poss with 4.5.

    the prob:

the blackmagic 5 drivers crash constantly during playback of the timeline which is set to blackmagic 1080i 50 JPEG.
We have 3 FCP suites and the prob can be easily replicated on all.
Uninstalling the drivers not only fixes the problem but the timeline is much much more responsive and rock solid….. of course I cannot input or output my project without the drivers.

Rolling back to 4.5 is a bit better but still unstable and laggy.

This problem is actually similar to how the drivers were with FCP4.0.

Hope it can be remedied soon as my clients are getting nervous.

    best regards
    Daryl

Unusable with SD JPEG as well (unless i turn off decklink output). photojpeg is my workhorse codec so this is a real problem for me as well.

i wonder why this has become a problem… QT 7, FCP 5, Tiger or Decklink Drivers?? just curious.
