Long thread in the AJA Kona forum about this. General consensus is it’s a great tool for an audio shop needing video playback, but IoHD obviously comes from a broadcast video centric company. MOTU is an audio company and this box seems very audio centric.

    Hey Walter,

Coming from a big DVCproHD fan, looks like you’re not impressed! Will check out other thread, thanks.

    Have a wonderful day.

Honestly I have not seen the product and have not tested it. But I really don’t see why I would trust my video production business to an audio centric company. AJA has been a part of thousands of hours of broadcast production. BlackMagic has been a part of thousands of hours of video production.

From what I can see, MOTU made a very nice box for audio professionals who need to view HD material while mixing and decided to call it a professional Video I/O box as well.

From a few comments I got from folks offline who have seen the product, the video quality does not hold up to the others. If you want high quality video products, you go with companies that have been supplying high quality video for years. For me it’s AJA with their incredible broadcast history and the quality of the products speaks for itself.
