V12 – SLR – render sync issues + no 720 AVC setting
Posted by Thoreau Bakker on January 25, 2013 at 3:02 amHi,
720p footage, 50 frames on a t2i with a 50m lens.
7 layer music video with lots of cuts. (not multi cam, but stack)First thing: I’m not seeing any 720 presets in the Sony Avc area of the rendering screen.I see 1080 but none other.. Anyone else have this, or this a glitch for me?
Second thing: Audio/Video syncs tight while editing (preview-auto), but after exporting is out of sync a bit.. I just did a search on this but didn’t find anything.
Audio sync tips )(things that might be messing up the render) greatly appreciated!

January 25, 2013 at 3:50 amI don’t have any standard 720p Sony AVC presets, but I do have some under MainConcept AVC. I would either modify a copy of the Sony AVC preset or use the MainConcept one. I don’t have the experience to help you with the sync issue, but someone else will probably respond.

January 25, 2013 at 4:03 amThanks Mark,
I upgraded from 10 and found the old render screen more intuitive.. Maybe I was just used to it.
Threw me a bit about the lack of 720, so thanks for confirming that on your version.

January 25, 2013 at 4:44 amThe stock templates are just a starting point. You can always make your own or use MainConcept AVC as Mark pointed out. Don’t be afraid to make your own templates.

January 25, 2013 at 5:37 pmJohn, thanks for the tip..
Do you have any preference on Main Concept VS Sony when it comes to AVC?
Also, if I open the Sony AVC 1080 template and change the resolution down to 720, should I also change the data rate?
Thanks for the support,
Thoreau

January 25, 2013 at 8:11 pmhi again..
so I think I’ve found the issues with the sync.I have a media clip that I exported from cinema 4D, which is a title sequence with an alpha channel, at 25p.
When I export sections of the video that don’t contain the alpha/25p clip, it’s in sync, but when I export the whole video, everything after the 25 p clip is a little off.
I know the ideal thing is go back and re-export the alpha clip at 29.97, but, before doing that, any tips on ways to render without the one strange clip affecting the whole render?
Thanks a Milion

January 25, 2013 at 10:50 pmSorry for the million posts CC Vegas forum 😉
Thanks for the tips earlier!!
Got my problems with the 25p fixed (I think) by un checking the ‘let media influence frame rate’ box in render settings.. Not 100% sure
My friend wanted to get it up quick so here it is.

For Vegas Pro 12.0 the MainConcept AVC encoder was improved and I really prefer it now for Internet delivery. I would use Sony AVC for Blu-ray delivery.

Yes, you should be able to turn it down by half and still have the same quality since 720 is less than half the resolution of 1080.

I’m not sure what that does but if it fixed your problem that’s all that counts. 😉
