  • Using Zaxwerks Layer Warp in a pre-comp

I have got hold of the new warp layers plug in – great! I have been trying to edit comps in comps to make a series of page turns (see – Nesting a comp in a comp in a comp stops camera thread). I have given up on CC page turn and am now trying to make it work with Layer Warp.

As before when I nest or pre-compose the layers of page-turns in another composition I lose the 3D connnection with the comps camera. I thought I could solve this by reducing the size of the objects turning in the original comp (to 50% of the screen) to give some space around the page turn and then zooming in on the second comp.

But whatever size I set the object in the first comp (using smaller objects or resizing using the Warp transform tools) the nested comp crops the image just around the outside of the original image.

I have extended the Warp limits but this has no effect.

Can anyone offer any tips to extend the boundaries of a Layer warp as a pre-comp please?

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Dave.

Thanks for your advice but the problem remains with the collapse button switched on. Here are the options:

a.) 3D button OFF and collapse NOT selected – pre-composed layer does not respond to the active camera’s movements at all.

b.) 3D button ON and collapse NOT selected – pre-composed layer reacts perfectly to active camera moves but has two problems. First it has lost the 3D depth that Layer Warp has created. With a front-on camera this is OK but looks rubbish from the side (I know that this should be solved if the layers were collapsed) Second problem is that the page flying off gets cut off at the 720 x 576 boundaries of the original composition.

c.) 3D button ON and collapse selected – same result as a.) above

d.) 3D button OFF and collapse selected – same result as a.) above

I have also tried these settings on the Layer Warp layers in the pre-comp but it makes no difference.

    Any other ideas?

    Scott
