I have set up an A5 page in indesign made up of jpegs / text / colors etc and now I want to add some vector graphics from illustrator over the top to work in connection with what I have already set out in indesign. Is there anyway I can insert the indesign file into illustrator to use as a guide so that it is all in the right place / right size ready for me to place in indesign?

    Hope this makes sense!

    Cheers

    Ali

    G’day Alistair

Maybe try exporting the InDesign file as a PDF (or jpg).
Place that in Illustrator (File > Place) — it should come in at 100%.

Vector graphic is not easy. It’s very hard graphic so I suggest to see some tutorial then start designing.
