  Using U.S. external harddrives abroad, specifically in Israel

  I have all my FCP projects (FCP 7) and media on various external harddrives, and am moving them all to Israel.

  Are there any issues with using U.S. harddrives abroad, specifically in Israel, where they use the European standard, 220-240V / 50Hz, so long as the drives’ AC power cords say “100 – 240V, 50-60Hz”?

  Aside from an adapter, are there any other issues I need to be aware of that might fry my drives? (For example, one person gave me a tip never to use surge protectors with transformers).

  Any precautions I should take (aside from backing up all my data before shipping the drives)?

  Most of my harddrives (which I haven’t had any problems with here in the states) are the MyBook Studio FW/eSata drives, 2TB and 6TB. But I also have a few older Lacie harddrives.

  If anyone works or has worked in film/video in Israel and doesn’t mind me emailing them a few questions, I’d appreciate it.
