  • Using SD footage in a HD program.

Posted by Bruce Scott on June 2, 2014 at 6:12 pm

I have some SD footage I would like to use within a new program that was shot in HD (1920×1080). The final product will be a DVD, but not BR. It seems silly to convert the SD to HD and then back to SD on the DVD. So, how can I use the SD footage in the HD program when editing in Premier Pro? I will be outputting using Encore.
    Thanks, Bruce

I’d make an SD sequence to match your desired output size/ratio and scale all of my 1080P footage to fit that sequence.

    Asus P6X58D Premium * Core i7 950 * 24GB RAM * nVidia Quadro 4000 * Windows 7 Premium 64bit * System Drive – WD Caviar Black 500GB * 2nd Drive(Pagefile, Previews) – WD Velociraptor 10K drive 600GB * Media Drive – 2TB RAID0 (4 – WD Caviar Black 500GB drive) * Matrox MX02 Mini * Adobe CC

Working with HD footage in a SD sequence also allows re-framing shots if necessary… a plus!
