  • Using Resolve on a Second Monitor from 15″ MacBook Pro

Posted by Fawaz Ayoub on April 6, 2011 at 9:26 pm

I finally saved up and purchased Resolve for my mac, Obviously it doesnt work on my 27″iMac i7, but I almost have enough saved up for the new 12core MacPro, but in the mean time I would like to learn how to use Resolve on my 15″ MacBook Pro i7. The problem is when I hook up an external monitor through the mini display port I cant drag Resolve over to the second screen since it doesnt fit on my 15″ screen. I do know the terminal commands but my second monitor is big enough to display resolve fully. How do I get resolve over to my second monitor. The minidisplay port is hooked up to HDMI which is hooked up to my monitor using the the mini display port to HDMI connector. I read the manuals but cant seem to find anything on this. Please help or point me to the page on the manual or in the right direction to get this to work on my second monitor. Thanks.

I didn’t realise it would even work without an Nvidia graphics card. Hasn’t the new MBP got an Intel one in?

after attaching the second monitor, you should be able to open up system preferences and click displays then click arrangement. Drag the menu bar that should be on the MBP screen over to the external display. That way when you launch apps they’ll launch on the external display as its set to the main display.

For what its worth I’ve been able to load resolve just fine on an iMac you just get all sorts of warnings about video cards etc.

I do have an nvidia graphics card on my 15″ MacBook Pro i7, with 2.66ghz. I dont have the new quad MacBook Pro. But I did figure out how to get it running on my iMac i7 with ATI Radeon Graphics card, there is actually an article on it from Resolve showing you how a work around, I installed it and have been able to play with the interface on my iMac but I havent put it to the real test yet. Still havent figured out how to get it on my external monitor on my macbook though
