    I have some quicktimes that were rendered out for me from an avid system, they look like normal quicktimes and want to open using quicktime
    but when they do they just show white. I opened them with FCP and got the same, then with VLC and I could see the start image but it never played.
    Is the a way to convert these into QTs that a mac will like. I did try exporting them from QT but it says qtKitErrorCatchAll(-8961)

    Any suggestions?

    They were probably rendered out using the Avid codecs, which you don’t have installed (hence the white screen).

    Download them here, install them, and your quicktime should play:
