  • Using multi-alpha-channel mattes?

Posted by Blase Theodore on July 13, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Based on a random comment Peter once made, I’m under the impression that v8 supports up to 4 alpha’s within a single matte (using R,G,B, and A. channels.)

Does anyone have any info on this?

When you add an RGBA clip as a matte, its node comes up with 4 outputs – I think each output represents each of the 4 channels.

The 4 outputs are YRGB. the Y is calculated from the RGB channels in the file. The A from the file is currently not used in Resolve.
