I recently purchased a video from the itunes store and it downloaded in mp4 fromat. I wanted to play around with it in Vegas 8 but it did not reconize it. is there an add-on decoder available? If not is there a way to convert mp4 to avi so that it can be use in Vegas 8?

For conversion purposes Google “Super” Its free. About the most difficult part of the program is finding the actual download!!

Try Any Video Converter. They have a free version that works for me.
I do not know if I tune downloads have elements that will prevent conversion but it would not suprise me.

Any converter didn’t work either. although I appreceiate the help it’s really not that big of a deal. It just seems to me if you pay for something you should be able to view it anyway you want. I just wanted to burn the clip to a dvd and play it on my big screen tv. The best thing to come out of this is I found this forum!

Just in case this works for you:
I play mp4 files from iTunes on my 40 inch LCD TV all the time. I have a DVI to HDMI cable that goes from my laptop to the TV. I play the video full screen and it looks great on the TV.

My TV also has a VGA input so I could go VGA to VGA or DVI to VGA to go from the computer to the TV as well.

No need to burn a DVD.
