  • Using motion effecst with a widescreen matte

    Hi,

I applied the 16:9 widescreen matte to a project i’m working on. I also have a few still images that i added some motion to (pans and zooms). When i played the clips back I see that the motion is applied to the widescreen matte as well…so basically the matte zooms in with the rest of the image. What I really want is for the matte be stationary and for the image’s motion to take place behind the matte, or, on the layer underneat it. Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks for the help.

Simply add another Video track above the 4×3 footage on your timeline.
On it, edit the “Slug” and mask out the center area to the 16×9 aspect/position you want (with Mask Shape > Rectangle > Invert).

This will allow an easier way to “slide” the image around (you’d actually move the clip itself with the Motion tab) and the mask will just sit, positioned properly, on the track above.
