Using Media Manager to trim a project for a faster uprezz… cant make it work!
Hello everyone,
I have a 15 minute edited timeline that i need to uprezz from DV to HDV 1080i. Since the master clips are mostly long interviews, i’d have to capture about 10 hours of master clips in total, which obviously doesnt make any sense.
Im trying to use the media manager to grab that sequence and make new offlined clips that are just whatever is used in the sequence plus 10 second handles, so i can capture shorter clips and save HD space and do this whole thing a lot faster.
I cant seem to figure this out. I’ve read this tutorial and it works smoothly – until i look at my new clips and notice the duration is still the same as before. Media Manager even reported that the new media wouldnt be much more than what the sequence length is.
I cant figure it out. It seems like a pretty simple operation though.
Any thoughts? It’d be greatly appreciated!

M cant trim clips if they don’t have reel#s
check in the browser that your clips do actually have reel#snick

Nope, they do have reel numbers.
I think i figured it out, though I dont really know what i did right.
This sequence had 5 parts, and i had created a new sequence for each part, and was trying to do the media manager from those new 5 sequences. For some reason, that didn’t work.
I did a media manager of the original sequence and it worked perfectly. Now I dont have a single clip over 1 minute, though there’s a lot of duplicate clips in my new bin. Dont know what that might be about. Im guessing it’s from clips that were used in more than one edit throughout the sequence, though they are all the same length and same in/out points…
Oh well, it’s working so i’ll just get to it. I’d love it if someone could de-mistify this thing though.
