  • Using Media Encoder to prepare for offline editing? Stumbling blocks!

I haven’t found much about the steps for preparing to offline edit in Premiere Pro CS5.5 (Mac) except that I should make smaller, identically named files in another folder, use them for offlining, and then re-link to the original media later.

But I can’t figure out how to use Media Encoder to do this.

My original files (a few hundred) end with .mpeg (Mpeg-2 files from my Canon HVC 30). I can’t find a similar file naming option in AME. Also, if I try to batch encode them, I can’t see how to specify a folder other than the original folder.

Is this the right tool? Am I going about this properly? Thanks.
