Using Markers

April 30, 2009 at 11:44 pmI am currently cutting a job on FCP. I can’t find out the best way to use markers. I have long interviews and press m twice to set and write a marker, but to find it again I have to highlight all the clips and press shift and arrow up then m to read each one. It seems very long winded.
In avid i can see a list and jump to the marker I want to find the synch I want, is there not something similar in FCP?
Thank you in advance if you can help.
Cheers,

May 2, 2009 at 11:00 amMarkers are not the strong suit of FCP.
You can’t get a list of sequence markers in FCP.
This is a bummer, and has been complained about for a long time.
When you add markers to a clip that is in the browser you get a carot next to it that allows you to see a list. Unfortunately, this is not currently the case with sequences.

May 2, 2009 at 12:03 pmThanks for that Tom.
What a shame, it’s a pretty important feature isn’t it.
Thanks V much for the post.

May 2, 2009 at 1:57 pmThe only way to get a list of sequence markers is to right click in the timeline ruler and take a screen of the shortcut menu. Pretty clumsy unfortunately.
All the best,
Tom
