Using layers source name ?
Hello!
Is it possible to use a layer’s Source name in an expression?
The layer’s “layer name” is “1 a” and many others are called so as well, so I’m trying to use it’s source name (which will be unique) in order to controll an animation.…also
The expression I’m using is in a nested comp, and I’m also trying to get the name of the composition where the current one is nested in. Is that possible?Many thanks!

You can get a layer’s source name (if it has one) like this:
thisComp.layer(“1”).source.name
An expression can only access another comp by name, so no, there’s no way for an expression to access the outer comp, then get its name.
