  • Using LANC for timecode with Avid Media Composer

I am using a Sony DV deck to import to mac with Avid Media Composer 2.8 via firewire.

I would like to improve the accuracy of the timecode that is imported. I believe this could be archived by connecting the deck via a LANC cable but I’m not sure how to go about this. I assume there will be a program I will have to install. Does anyone know what program I will have to use and has anyone used this method, if so how successful is it?

Dunno what problems you have now, but you WILL NOT improve anything by going to LANC.

If you can go to 422, that can help, but then you probably also have a machine that is at least 5 times more expensive.
