I’m using a KVM switch on my machines.

Is it possible to swap from machine to machine, while capturing, using FCP without getting dropped frames? Any workarounds out there?

In general, apps like FCP, After Effects and Motion will have a fit when they lose a connection to the monitor. So it depends what kind of KVM you are using.

In our edit rooms we have a Geffen DVI dual switcher. In order to use this switch and change while using these apps you need another little device called a display detective (I think) to fool the computer into thinking that a display is still connected. It should work with this device in the path. In the machine room in our facility, we have a larger kvm that does vga. I have no problem switching during capture with this switch. The computer thinks that a monitor is still attached even if it is not the active route.
