Using Ki Pro below a Betacam
I’m really pleased with the Ki Pro.
One thing I discovered however (mentioned by Gary in a previous post, I believe) is that it should not be used under a Betacam or any other large camera if you want to have shake-free video.
Generally for this use, I’m recording long-form events where I need to shoot from a distance.Because it raises the center of gravity, the heavy Betacam is more susceptible to shake when it’s mounted on the thin rail of the exoskeleton. I’ll experiment with some “low-mode” configuration; maybe it can be mounted above the camera, but common sense (and trying it once) dictates not to use the Betacam perched on top of the unit.
