  • Using IMovie for HDV or Setting up FCP to capture like IMOVIE

I have to go thorugh a huge back log of HDV tapes. THey are not part of our normal varicam/1200a workflow. There’s a really LAZY feature in Imovie that will capture a tape and make a new clip at each “break”. Is there a setting in FCP 5 to do this? In addendum, is there a decent workflow from IMOVIE to FCP that will actually utilize the Lazy capture?

    Thanks om advance

When capturing HDV via FW, FCP5 will create a new clip at each camcorder stop-start point automatically.

Or ,with DV SD format you can do this after capturing a long section of tape by clicking on: Mark (menu) > DV Start/Stop Detect.
