  • Using Final Cut captures (only) in AVID – is that possible

I poster it also in the AVID board, but I know this board is more alive and I’m sure someone
    here can help me.

I captured ten 20min clips from miniDV on Final Cut. But I want to edit them on Avid Xpress (just for practice).
I imported the MOVs into the Avid, it did some converting and now I have the files to work with.

Only question is, am I in the safe ? or do I need another kind of import ?
Please note, I only need the big quicktime files, not any bin or project info. I’m doing online.

    cheers

In the safe for what? You said you only want to practice so as long as the AVID sees the files and can play them, I guess the answer is yes.

Well… if it all goes good with the practice, I might end up doing the project in AVID.
The files run OK, export OK, and they were converted to those foul-named OMFI files.

What I meant by “safe” is that hopefully I won’t have to capture anything again ..

by the way -after 2 days with avid I really appriciate FCP’s ability to SELECT a clip in
timeline hassle free (not to mention that “lost in space” feeling I have with that ugly avid timeline)

    cheers
