    Please help.
I have cut a sequence on Avid Mediacomposer.
The sound mixer wants an XML file of the sequence, rather than an edl.

    I’ve never used this before.

I have successfully ‘opened’ the sequence. I can select the video, audio 1-6 etc and all the options.
But the ‘save as’ is grey and I can’t save it.

Please can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?

    Thankyou in advance,
    Dan.

Did you do a preview first? Then save as. Also, althugh it can generate an XML, that does not mean that a system supports it. Where is this XML going once generated?

    Thanks for the post Michael.
I have just previewed it first and it has allowed me to ‘save as’
It does however come out as a simple text file, is that right?

It is for a pro tools audio mix.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

Yes, XML is a language with a defined format represented as Text. But Pro Tools does not support XML, it does do OMF and AAF. I am curious to know why there is a request for the XML. Pro Tools does support iXML which is the defined specification of the file based production audio recorders.
