Using Export Compressor in FCP to export HD footage
Dear all,
I have 3 questions for you:
1)I am trying to export a movie from my FC Pro sequence. I read online that was best to use compressor that just export as a quicktime movie for HD. The issue here is that I exported a quicktime movie from my seuqence and when I imported into DVDS Pro it just show like and audio file and not like both movie and audio.Does anyone know why is this happening??
2) After this issue I am using Export using Compressor…My question here is that I don’t know what settings to use exactly: my footage is HD 2048,16:9, 30fps. I was going to use 8bit uncompressed quicktime file, there is also 10bit…I just want a high resolution movie that will be played in a DVD…any suggestions?
3) Why using compression is it takes soooo long to export??? is because it exports a better quality movie that just exporting as quicktime directly form FC?

You can’t make an HD DVD with DVD Studio pro…
The best you can make with it is an SD DVD from your HD timeline.
When you export from Compressor the MPEG file and audio file you’ll need, they do indeed become two separate files. That’s normal. They are needed for DVD SP. They get remarried in the burn when you actually make the DVD automatically. You’ll drag both the audio and video files together to a button to assign that button to play the files.

Thanks Jerry, I will set up the project as SD DVD then.
My previous was set up as NTSC HD, not SD…So, my question is: i exported with compressor a 8bit uncompressed quicktime movie. Is this the best setting i should be using to burn a DVD with DVDSP SD? also, I like to use the HD frame 2048..this is going to be a problem if I use the SD right? as is 720 only? can i go to 1080i? or bigger if the project is set up as SD?
I just want to get a high res DVD movie..Thanks again!

Also, when i burned the DVD with my HD footage with the project set up as HD in DVDSP…the dics doesn’t start playing…i guess is because i have to set it up as SD?? and use 8bit uncompressed?

Just export your sequence as it is to Compressor. Don’t down convert it at all. Then choose the DVD Setting there for an SD DVD which is appropriate for your program length. Import the two files it will create in DVD SP to author the DVD.
That’s the best you can do without a Blu-Ray Burner.
