Using edit system for internet, email and a bunch of other stuff?
I was going to buy an iMac for my email, internet, Photoshop, InDesign and all my other bits, then also buy a Mac Pro just for FCP and DVDSP etc i.e. editing only.
However, I’m starting to think this is old-school (or Windows PC land) and is simply not relevant to the Mac anymore, after all you have to connect your edit suite to the internet for the constant barrage of updates Apple bring out.
So I was thinking of not buying a separate iMac just for internet purposes and ploughing that extra money into buying a top-of-the-range Mac Pro maxed out to capacity with internal HDs in abundance.
This would then be my sole computer for doing everything i.e. internet browsing and downloading, email, Photoshop, InDesign, Word, etc.
Personally I don’t think I will have a problem as I’ve spent ages using an old iMac for internet, email, Photoshop, InDesign, Word etc and the internet and web browsing and email has never caused Photoshop to crash or hang so I can’t see how it can cause FCP of DVDSP3 any problems either?
I’d appreciate comments on this one though.
