Using DVCPRO50 with AJA IO ???
So I have a new FCP system with AJA IO LA and a SATA striped array running off a new Dual 2.3Ghz G5. I tested the 8 bit and 10 bit uncompressed output and everything plays back fine. However, when I try to set up a DVCPRO50 test something’s not right.
First I set my sequence to 720 x 486 29.97 fps DVCPRO50-NTSC. Then I render out a test from After Effects to the same exact specs- 720 x 486 29.97 fps DVCPRO50-NTSC. I look at the browser info in the bin for both the sequence and the file that I import and even though they are identical, when I place the clip in the sequence, the red line shows up above it indicating that I need to render it. And then, even if I render it, it won’t send any video through the AJA IO so I can monitor it on NTSC- I just get a static image. I’m setting my Video Playback to ProIO-NTSC US Component RGB -8-bit 720×486 which works fine for 8-bit or even 10-bit sequences.
Now the AJA IO Guide states, “…you can use IO to convert DV50 projects to uncompressed-in real time-for monitoring and/or output.” So what am I missing? I’d really like to work in DV50 for some projects to save drive space.
Thanks,
Todd
