Using curves to alter car tyre velocity
Posted by Michael Banjoko on December 22, 2009 at 10:09 amFirstly, I would like to slow down the tyre rotation speed as car approaches a bend, using curves.
Secondly, how else can i introduce tyre rotation (over a fair distance) without necessarily entering degrees in rotation bar?

December 26, 2009 at 10:09 pmthe simplest linking of rotation to movement is something like this
With a lot more xpresso you can get this https://kevinxl7.com/Xpresso/4wd/
Unfortunately the file Kevin provides (written in 8 I think) rotates the wheels wrongly in 10.5 so here is a “fixed for 10” version I did (just moved the link from P to B on the xpresso on the wheels)444_allwheeldrivev2fixed410.zip
Someone has a complete solution (commercial, I think) somewhere but I don’t remember who or where it is.

December 29, 2009 at 10:43 amRoll-it is brilliant, especially with speed simulation etc. From the C4d file from Brian, i gathered that all four tyres are programmed individually. With this in mind, by selecting each tyre using roll-it, i click “set” and roll motion is activated. Which is lovely.
I’m however yet to get round the rotation (wheel turning) while rolling. Any inhouse suggestions? Also, can c4d ‘instance’ work with roll-it, to avoid programming all four tyres?
I’ve also found out that by altering the wheel radius, realistic tyre rotations can be achieved for diff car types/sizes.

December 29, 2009 at 7:59 pmHey Michael –
Glad to hear Roll-it is sort of working for you…unfortunately I’ve only used it once and that was some time ago. Perhaps they have a forum or some sort of support group?
Good luck.
Tim
