I’m trying to deliver a small 16×9 QT movie about 360×270 to a client. My project sequence is DVCProHD 720p60 / 960×720. However, I’ve been unable to use export to compressor to achieve this and the final product remain 16×9 either with or without letterbox. It always renders out in 4×3. I don’t get it, but it’s driving me crazy…PLEASE HELP. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Square pixes require simple math. 360X270 is a 4X3 aspect. You need to export to 360X180.

Solved one problem…I get a 16×9 window now, but the footage is still 4×3..any ideas?

Do you mean it’s 4×3 anamorphically squished, with black bars on the sides?

It should stretch the HD 4×3 anamorphic footage out when you render it out 320 x 180 with square pixels.

I have had issues in the past with “export using Compressor” directly from the timeline – it would squish the text layers, but not the video.

Anyway – Try Exporting the HD seq as a self-contained QT, then take that into Compressor and you should get a fullframe 16 x 9 QT.

Turns out…I’m an idiot…I hate to admit it, but I’ve found the problem. In my defense, several people use the machine I work from. Turns out, it doesn’t matter what you set your stuff to compress if your Project settings, Audio/Video settings and everything else are hosed up. It’s a shame that you can actually have a 960 sequence open while your project settings are set to another project. I wish I had my own machine…
Thanks for the response…check out my stuff on 1800goguard.com in a few days…look for the Potomac fishing video.
