I’m trying to convert a DVD mpeg 2 file to mpeg 1. (It’s all lega…it a meeting l’m trying to convert to play in powerpoint). The issue is sound. I cannot get the sound, it always ends up garbled, like everyone is speaking under water. I’m using mac the ripper to get the files on my desktop. And then using handbrake to convert the file to an mp4 format so I can bring it into Cleaner to convert to an mpeg 1. The video is great and the sound is great until I export from Cleaner when trying to make a mpeg 1. I’ve tried tons of settings in Cleaner and nothing works. Am I doing something wrong before I get to Cleaner?

    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

For MPEG-1, I wouldn’t recommend Cleaner 6. If you are looking for a free app, ffmpegX is a pretty good tool, albeit with a somewhat steep learning curve.

I believe the free MPEG Streamclip is a good way to go for this…um…the best way to go?
