On a “how-to” video I just watched I noticed the editor dragged Avid FX onto a clip and made edits necessary…

I realized at that point I have a separate Avid FX app but it’s not in the effect palette…

Anyone have any thoughts? Am I missing something or stupid?

    Thanks,
    Ted

Avid FX are Boris FX. If you purchased the AVID software for your computer, you have to purchase the Boris effects separately, but it should automatically load into your effects pallette. Did you click on the pink square at the top of your bin to open them?

We purchased 6 and 5.8 came bundled with the Avid MC download.

I installed it, however, it’s not in the Effect Palette. If I want to use it I have to open the program separately…

I’m fairly sure that 5.8 shipped with MC 5.x, and that you need AvidFX 6 with MC6.

The downloaded installer for MC6 contains an installer for this. Your Avid store purchase should be listed in your Avid account, and it should include 3rd party serials, like Avid FX (in fact equal to Boris Red).
